English- writing

I hope that you are enjoying your writing lessons through Oak National Academy. Please continue with the narative writing lessons based on The BFG. You should be on your last 5 lessons for this topic. These will be our remaining lessons up to half term. To find these lessons CLICK HERE.

Reading

Use any remaining comprehensions sent home as daily reading sessions, if you have completed them all then you can access the online reading materials. Please continue to read any books that you have at home or any online reading using the new tab on our class page 'Online Reading'. Once you have read a book you can use the accelerated reading link on the class page to complete a comprehension quiz based on the book.

Spelling, punctuation and grammar (SPAG)

We have recently covered plurals in part of our spelling lessons, use the Oak National Academy lessons for your 5 SPaG lessons this week. CLICK HERE to discover how to correctly make a word from a singular into a plural.

This week we have two reading sessions to learn about reading for pleasure. Follow this link to access the lessons. Please continue to read any books that you have at home or any online reading using the new tab on our class page 'Online Reading'. Once you have read a book you can use the accelerated reading link on the class page to complete a comprehension quiz based on the book. 
For the remaining 3 reading slots this week, you can use the comprehension texts that were sent home to be completed.

We are currently writing a narrative on a class text. To ensure that you are experiencing the same learning at home, please follow the Oak National Academy lessons for a narrative text based around Roal Dahl's BFG. To find these lessons CLICK HERE.

This is a series of lessons which will last up to 4 weeks.

Reading

Please continue to read your reading book and any books that you have at home that you enjoy. Use the link on the class page to access accelerated reader with your mathletics log in to find comprehension tests on any books that you have read. 

Further to this here is a link to the Oak National Academy for a series of 5 reading lessons based around The Firework Maker's Daughter by Phillip Pullman. This series of lessons can be used as daily reading sessions or spread over a two week time frame in conjunction with other reading material such as the comprehensions sent home in the home learning pack.
